Lines for Palestine is the umbrella for a series of projects run between the University of Glasgow and partners in Palestine since January 2024. Lines to the Future is under this umbrella. British Council Palestine supports Lines to the Future, as well as other lines for Palestine work, through the SARD programme.
We Are Not Numbers shares with the world authentic and compelling stories from the next generation of Palestinian writers and leaders. Several Lines to the Future writers have had their work published there.
Voices from Gaza is a new platform celebrating creative and talented writers from Palestine.
I’m Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi, a Palestinian writer, poet, and editor from Gaza, and a 19-year-old English literature student at the Islamic University of Gaza. Through my writing, I aim to amplify Gaza’s voice and bring to light stories that are too often left untold.

Hala Al-Khatib is a 20-year-old writer and poet from Al-Nusirat refugee camp in Gaza.

I am Amera Atiya Abu Al-Husain, a 21-year-old writer from Rafah, Gaza. In the heart of war, I discovered that words could be my only weapon.When the world around me collapsed, the pen refused to surrender. It became my witness, my voice, and my way to keep our stories alive.
Through writing, I resist. Through words, I survive.
For me, writing is not merely expression. It is existence itself.
